We recently hosted a sold out talk with Elie (previously and infamously known as ‘Visionelie’), one of Toronto’s best young photographers making moves on the international stage.
Elie started his career in Toronto shooting architecture around the city, focusing mainly on the symmetry of large skyscrapers. From there, he amassed a large following on Instagram and evolved his photography to display more reflection and emotion.
His big break came when he was asked to shoot the lookbook for The Weeknd’s clothing line XO. Since than, Elie has become largely sought after in the music industry — becoming a personal photographer to The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Banks and Selena Gomez. In 2017, he was exclusively invited to shoot the behind-the-scenes photography for the blockbuster hit Black Panther.
Moderated by journalist and DJ Jordan Sowunmi, the focus of the conversation revolved around Elie’s rise as a photographer, early inspirations, career highlights, and how he established himself as one of the music industry’s most sought-after photographers.
