Elie joined us in the Canon Creator Lab at Free Space to talk about influence — what it means to him, who and what his sources of inspiration are, and how it shows up in his photography from artist to artist.
A Toronto-based Africa-born photographer, Elie started his career in Toronto shooting architecture around the city focusing mainly on the symmetry of large skyscrapers. From there, he amassed a large following on Instagram and evolved his photography to display more reflection and emotion. His big break came when he was asked to shoot the lookbook for The Weeknd’s clothing line XO. Since than, Elie has become largely sought after – becoming a personal photographer to The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Banks and Selena Gomez. In 2017, he was exclusively invited to shoot the behind-the-scenes photography for the blockbuster hit Black Panther.
